Family Law

The Family Department advises on all disputes and Legal Agreements involving marriage, relationship and family breakdown. Our work includes but is not limited to advice on divorce, separation and financial settlements upon marriage breakdown whether by Court applications or agreed in a Consent Order.

We also advise upon cohabitee property disputes, Civil Partnerships and same sex marriages together with private law children disputes and Pre-Nuptial and Post Nuptial Agreements.

The Family department also has a specialist child care team compromising two fee earners with over 60 years combined experience involved in children work. Peter Denison regularly acts for the children the subject of the proceedings, whether that be in Public or Private Law cases. He is a member of the Law Society Children Panel, as a representative of both children and parents.

Peter undertakes cases where the Local Authority has commenced proceedings for care or supervision orders in respect of children and regularly attends pre-proceedings meetings to either try to help avoid a matter going to Court, or to help in a resolution of the difficulties before they get to Court.

Because of the large amount of time he spends in Court, Peter relies on his staff working as a team, and he has a dedicated team of personal assistants, secretaries and administrative and costs supports to ensure we can provide the best possible service we can for our clients.
